This is not a march for peace. It is a march for survival.
Every step is an embrace for a woman, a chance at life for a child. These steps are not meant to symbolically shout “peace”, because the point is the bare minimum of dignity: a humanity that can, somehow, say enough to the deaths of women and children, enough to the deaths of civilians.
There is no justification for continuing a massacre.
Every step of this march is a brick from a destroyed building, from a home that is no longer there, from a plate of rice that doesn’t arrive. Every step is a bridge between horror and hope.
It is not peace we seek: that is only a fine wish. We want hope restored to Gaza, the slaughter of innocents to end, the sound of sentences to be heard, meaning to be given to the words of the one who, from those lands, blessed the pure in heart, the merciful, the meek and the peacemakers.
This march is for Gaza. For Gaza’s children, for Gaza’s women, for Gaza’s life, for Gaza’s broken hearts. Every step is a small stretch of road to seal a pact among human beings: stop killing, stop creating fear, sadness, hatred.
Have the courage to stop in the name of humanity.
Whoever kills is always wrong. And there is no God who can justify a slaughter.
This is not a march for peace. It is a march for life. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed is the one who will have the courage to look those children in the eyes, in the marked faces of those women, in the wrinkles of all the people of Gaza — and will have the courage to say enough.
Every step is a hope. Every hope will be certainty.
Marching with us means marching for all the children and women of Gaza.
Only this. For their smiles and their future.
We will meet at 6:00 pm in front of Siligo town hall to reach the Mondo X S’Aspru community, where the young people of Father Salvatore Morittu and Father Stefano Gennari will welcome us. In that land of encounters we will listen to the words of Palestinians from Gaza and read the S’Aspru charter signed, at the time, in January 2024.
The mayor of Siligo
Giovanni Porcheddu
The president of Intrecci culturali
