What is political power, really? What do three buttons control on a mysterious control panel that only the Region’s president can use? Giorgio Sercinu has been elected governor of Sardinia. A year after his inauguration he falls into a family and political crisis. To have immediate contact with ordinary people he decides to sign up, under the name Lorenzo, on the Bla bla car website. With the help of a disguise, he spends several days driving along the island’s roads in the company of other travelers. The story tells of his last trip, made on Ferragosto day in a scorching summer. Keeping him company are Bastiano, fresh with a degree in Philosophy, who, just to work, enlisted in the Sassari Brigade; Manuel, a young student at the Sassari Academy of Fine Arts, able to draw people for what they truly are; and, finally, Ersilia, a airy and eccentric elderly noblewoman from Cagliari. Over the course of the day he will have the chance to discover the authentic Sardinia and clear his mind about who he really is. From Nuraghe Losa to Lollove, Giorgio Sercinu’s view of the world will be challenged.

A book that tells a lot about our history, about Sardinia, and about choices that are made on our skin. Giovanni FOllesa, the author of the book, will talk with Giampaolo Cassitta Friday 10 October at 6:30 pm as part of the Ammajare OFF festival, in collaboration with the Salvatore Farina library of Sorso. The meeting will take place  inside the library, on via Siglienti, 1 in Sorso.
