Alone, these women are alone: that’s what you think while reading Undici. Don’t forget, a new collection of eleven stories by Andrej Longo, which seem to echo Dieci (Sellerio, 2025). What they share is the Neapolitan setting, the focus on giving a voice to those who usually don’t have one. Characters living a rough, minor-key life, who would likely pass unnoticed, if it weren’t for the attention to detail and the skill of a wise author in choosing what to catch and what to tell.
In Undici the focus, however, is on the female characters: often also first-person narrators of the stories, in any case they are the viewpoint chosen by Andrej Longo to portray a life that is often made of misery, responsibility, crime.
