The Festival Ammajare Off arrived in Sassari for its fifth stop, after the stages in Tergu, Porto Torres, Banari and Bonorva. The evening’s highlight was the essay by Francisu Sedda, The Unpredictable Happens (Bompiani), presented by Alessandro De Roma.

Sedda captivated the audience by talking about unpredictability: in a world ruled by technology, even the most striking surprises can come from those who seem least predictable. An example? Donald Trump, described by the essayist as a true master of the unexpected. The evening was a chance to reflect on historical and contemporary events, between the predictable and the unforeseen, between what we think we can control and what surprises us.

De Roma led the audience on a journey spanning centuries and figures: from Umberto Eco to the Middle Ages, up to the Renaissance, recalled by Sedda as the age of witches and inquisitions. All perfectly in keeping with the provocative, curious spirit of the Ammajare festival.

Next event: 12 November in Porto Torres, at the Koinè bookshop, with the presentation of the latest book by Cristiano Idini, The Price to Pay (Il Maestrale). Joining the author to explore the judiciary and vigilantes will be Giampaolo Cassitta.
