The third of four meetings was held in Sassari at the municipal library. Presenting the book was Giampaolo Cassitta who, in fact, also told—through a few musical pieces played and sung by Mauro Cossiga—the epic of the imaginary village of Roccabuiedda where Donna Matilde lives. So, while the story climbed through tales and memories of 1958, the notes of songs from that time began: from La casetta in Canadà to la cucaracha, from Diana and que sera sera, reaching the apotheosis of the Sanremo Festival which in 1958 declares its winner: Domenico Modugno with his “Nel blu dipinto di blu”. At the end of the performances there was time to present a new song written by Giampaolo Cassitta and Mauro Cossiga, with a title inspired by the book: “The ballad of Donna Amtilde”.
The last event of the Ammajare Off festival at the library in Piazza Tola is Thursday 20 November with Rita Nappi’s book.
