It will take place on Sunday 14 December in Siligo “Raighinas de identidade”, a day devoted to the study, protection and promotion of the languages of Sardinia. The initiative – promoted by the Municipality of Siligo and carried out with the support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia (L.R. 12/2025 “Sardinian Language and Culture Service”) – also includes among the co-protagonists the Associazione Intrecci Culturali, which oversees the scientific part of the conference.

The event examines the island’s entire linguistic heritage: Sardinian in its historic Logudorese and Campidanese varieties, Sassarese, Gallurese, Algherese and Tabarchino, offering a shared reflection on their role in contemporary society and on future prospects, also in light of new technologies and changes in language.

Proceedings will open at 9.30, at the Social Aggregation Centre in Piazza Maria Carta, with a musical tribute by the Coro Polifonico Silighese and institutional greetings. Next, space for in-depth sessions bringing together scholars and lecturers from the universities of Sardinia, Corsica and the mainland.

The first session, dedicated to the presence of Sardinian languages in scientific studies, addresses topics such as the current state of linguistic research, skills certifications in the different minority languages, and the historical-cultural relationship between Sardinia and Corsica.

The second session, focused on tools for teaching the island’s languages, will offer a comparison of innovative methodologies, digital resources and teaching practices, with particular attention to language transmission in a rapidly changing society like the one we are living in.

The day will resume at 15.00 in the Town Hall Council Chamber, with a third session devoted to the role of Sardinia’s languages in contemporary society: identity, linguistic rights, new technologies and legal instruments.

Two round tables will follow: the first dedicated to the presence of regional languages in the media – with journalists, content creator and communication professionals – and the second to the contribution of language help desks in the island’s different areas. A concrete opportunity to understand how language lives in everyday life, in citizen services and in information.

From 17.00, in the hall of the Social Aggregation Centre, music will be the star, through some of the most significant authors and performers who have taken up the challenge of conveying their artistic messages in the so-called “language of feelings”.

The evening will be curated by the Fondazione Maria Carta. On stage, representative voices from Sardinia’s main linguistic areas will alternate:

Yasmin Bradi (Alghero Catalan), Beppe Dettori (Sassarese), Maria Giovanna Cherchi (Logudorese), the Coro Gabriel (Gallurese), Randagiu Sardu (Campidanese) and Battista Dagnino (Tabarchino).

Closing the evening will be the sounds of Fantafolk, the Tenore “Su Populu Sardu” of Oliena and the Sassarese artist Enzo Mugoni, in a crescendo that weaves tradition and new sensibilities.

As co-promoter of the initiative, the Associazione Intrecci Culturali confirms its commitment to promoting the island’s languages and cultures through research, training and dialogue between forms of knowledge. «Language – recalls president Paolo Bellotti – preserves the history and identity of a community. Today the challenge is to keep it alive in technologies, in new languages and in people’s everyday life».
